I tried all that, install one remove the other etc... also tried with and without gnome-bluetooth, which was installed by default btw, I believe blueberry uses gnome-bluetooth by default and so I tried blueman (blueberry removed) and removed gnome-bluetooth too.

I had not tested it with kernel 4.4.0-21 but am on 4.4.0-31 when I noticed the problem, perhaps there is a regression?

In Blueman you have to pair and also trust the device in order to receive a file over bluetooth, this can also be done in terminal using

Code: Select all

bluetoothctl
If the device has already been paired then it should show as a device for example my phone shows as

Code: Select all

$ bluetoothctl
[NEW] Controller 00:02:72:01:8D:F4 jeremy-Lenovo-G710 [default]
[NEW] Device E0:A3:AC:2C:AD:9B E0-A3-AC-2C-AD-9B
Then in order to trust you

Code: Select all

trust E0:A3:AC:2C:AD:9B
and the response should be

Code: Select all

trust E0:A3:AC:2C:AD:9B
[CHG] Device E0:A3:AC:2C:AD:9B Trusted: yes
Changing E0:A3:AC:2C:AD:9B trust succeeded
Then you should be able to transfer files to your computer from another device

That was done multiple times with different packages installed and removed, each time un-pairing and re-pairing and no logical configuration by my experience was able to work.

I reverted to a previous kernel without success so it doesn't appear to be the kernel either...

This is pretty frustrating, might go back to 17.3 but this is like a challenge now and everything else works smoothly.

Son of Gun! I had Bluetooth Share turned off in startup/events (3c toolbox)...

I had my phone on while in my pocket a week or two ago and I'm still finding anomalies and glitchy behavior... I should have known better and checked that first

chemmutk1 check you're phone!

I can confirm this issue with my Laptop PC as described in my post a while back (viewtopic.php?f=157&t=226117). However in my case it's audio, not file transfer. I'm not sure whether it's directly related.

@jeremy : Felicitous :D ... removing blueberry and installing blueman worked !!!!! thank you jeremy. Guys pls go to the panel and click bluetooth botton, go to local service - Transfer - tick the option " Accept files from trusted devices".hit Apply. You are done.the files will be stored in download folder.
Screenshot from 2016-08-03 18-11-08.png
But the issue is , bluetooth is automaticaly kept ON everytime i reboot. I disabled bluetooth from startup. Now The bluetooth icon itself has been removed from the panel. Is thr a way to keep the bluetooth icon in the panel, But Kept "Turned OFF"???

You can try a startup command like:

"rfkill block bluetooth"

or put command in /etc/rc.local

@scutterflex : i tried that using gedit. Added that line before" exit 0". But still the blueman is turned On in reboot.
P:S : earlier that command "rfkill block bluetooth" had worked for my friends laptop, who is using blueberry bluetooth manager .(mint 18).

Try placing

Code: Select all

sleep 20
above the rfkill line in rc.local

Argh, trying a fresh install of Mint 19 64bit just to get bluetooth to work. Ubuntu was slow as heck on my old rig, 90 seconds to boot up and looked like a cartoon. Mint boots in 35 seconds and looks slick! Deleted blueberry and installed Blueman (sudo apt-get install blueman) and it sees the soundfit BT speaker and even makes the speaker beep but it never syncs up. tried to run setup but It gives me an error: "Connection failed: Blueman.bluez.errors.DBusFailedError:Host is down" and the BT speaker is still in discovery mode. I bailed on a super fast Puppy 7.5 distro (no bluetooth) and it was a shame as that distro was lightning fast, Im using a broadcom BT internal half-size card (Dell branded) with the proprietary drivers Mint suggested on install.
