Linux compatible 2 in 1 laptop

Post by yerbabuena »

I have been happily using Mint on my lenovo Thinkpad for 2 years. I am now shopping for a replacement and would like to know if anyone has had any success getting Mint working on a 2 in 1 laptop / tablet computer. I am looking at the Yoga 3, but am concerned that there will be a lot of compatibility issues. I do want to be able to use the touchscreen. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.

A forum search of "Yoga" gives you many answers. :)

I run Linux Mint 18 Xfce on an HP Spectre X360. There are issues using the touch screen if an external monitor is also connected — it may be fine in mirroring mode, but I use the two monitors (the external and the laptop's) to increase my screen real estate. Otherwise it runs just fine. I used LM 17 prior to 18 (before that, I didn't have the laptop).

I wanted a computer I could also use as a tablet (I dual-boot Windows 10).

I would avoid any Atom Cherry-Trail CPU devices. They're still not well supported.
