Code: Select all

pacmd set-card-profile `pacmd list-cards | grep bluez_card -B1 | grep index | awk '{print $2}'` off; sleep 2 ; echo -e "disconnect MAC_ADDRESS\n quit"|bluetoothctl;sleep 5; echo -e "connect MAC_ADDRESS\n quit"|bluetoothctl; sleep 5; pacmd set-card-profile `pacmd list-cards | grep bluez_card -B1 | grep index | awk '{print $2}'` a2dp_sink
Replace MAC_ADDRESS with the MAC address of the headset. Most of the issues seem to be related to Bluez5 and pulse audio not using the right labels.

I just tested the same headset on my LM18 laptop and the same command was needed
Is this a one-time command?

Is MAC _ADDRESS in the format 00:11:22:33:AA:BB, with the colons?
Thanks,
Howard

That MAC address looks correct, with the colons. The command will need to be run after every reboot and disconnect from the headset. This is being worked on in Ubuntu due to bug reports and the fixes will make it to Linux Mint

i did more testing on a ThinkPad X41 with LM18 KDE and MATE 32-bit. Both of them as installed paired with and connected to the bluetooth headphones without any additional commands. This was using a Pluggable USB adapter. It took a bit of adjustment of pavu audio volume settings to get sound to the headphones, but it was straight forward. I'll do more experimenting before trying your impressive command.

I'm beginning to think bluetooth performance is at least partly a function of the adapter and device used. Interesting.
