The correct sequence of the story is
1. I had the same problem as described by the owner of the post.
2. I did installed the file that you gave.
3. I rebooted after I installed the file that you gave. However, I still get the Cinnamon fallback problem. So, I proceeded to using Nouveau driver. At this point, I noticed that there was one update shown in the update manager, which I clicked install.
4. I pasted the result from $ inxi -Gxx and log_file: /var/log/gpu-manager.log to this forum. However, I could not install the file that you gave any more.
I also notice that the file that you gave has the same version number as the one from the update manager, so I thought it made sense to say I could not install your file any more.
