Managed to kill my sound on Toshiba Satellite A200

Postby chintohere » Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:09 am

Hi All

I'm a linux new bee and I've managed to kill my sound. I have tried reinstalling it without any success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are the details. I used to have proper sound when I installed Linux mint for the first time. But the sound level was very low (In Vista my harman/kardon speakers are awesome). In an effort to improve the sound level I have killed it.

Any steps to reinstall the sound drivers would be really appreciated. :)

Here are the details.
    Distro: Linux Mint Felicia
    Laptop Model Toshiba Satelite A200
Sound Card Card: HDA Intel ││ Chip: Realtek ALC268 (From alsamixer command)

Intel HDA does not like pulse audio
Here is a solution that I think is valid from ICH7

Of course you change to model=toshiba (or =auto)

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
