Polar m400 does not run on Linux Mint 18

Post by lubieplackijesc »

Hello.

I bought a watch as in the topic. Unfortunately, the program only works under Windows and Mac OS, on Mint I can run through Wine, but the program does not detect this watch (it is connected by USB). I also tried the VirtualBox version 5.0.24 with Windows 7 and is the same issue.

Thanks for suggestions.

Hi,

I currently run 4.10.0-37-generic #41~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP kernel on LinuxMint18 and it does not event detect the device when I plug it on USB port (see kernel.log). So I have no chance it can work on virtualbox :-(

On LinuxMint17.3, at least the M400 watch was detected by kernel (I could not have making it worked in VirtualBox though).

I am afraid the M400 Polar is kind of totally unsupported on Linux. Since I do not plan to by a Windows or Mac 'til I die (moreover I read that Android app is not very nice) my M400 watch is not more usefull as any 5 buck chronometer watch. Polar sucks.

I do see some discussion of M400 with Linux here. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11682163
