Can you get info from Windows Device Manager. Click on bluetooth radios, and double click on the generic bluetooth adapter, use details tab, property Hardware IDs. Post the info

In Device Manager > Network Adapters > Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 Network Adapter > Details > Property Hardware Ids gives the following values

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&SUBSYS_E08E105B&REV_20
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&SUBSYS_E08E105B
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&CC_028000

I would look at Bluetooth USB module and see what the hardware ID is

The Details > Property > Hardware ID in Bluetooth USB Module are:

USB\VID_0489&PID_E092&REV_0001
USB\VID_0489&PID_E092

That is a QCA Rome bluetooth device, part of the Atheros wifi card. Not sure why it doesn't show in LM lsusb results. I will see if I can find the commands to force a USB rescan to see if it gets discovered

It might not be required, but wifi was not working post installation. After searching some forums, i downloaded ath10k firmware from github and replaced hw2.1 an hw3.0 folders in /lib/firmware and rebooted. Wifi worked fine afterwards.
Hope this might be helpful since Atheros is a dual card for wifi and bluetooth.

The bluetooth has worked on similar cards before the firmware for the wifi was present. The easiest way in LM 18 to get the firmware is

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install linux-firmware
If you don't have another internet connection available you can just go to http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-updat ... e/download and pick a download site on a computer with working internet. Once the file is on the LM computer just double click to install.

Is the computer using UEFI or legacy(CSM) boot? If you have Windows 10 it is likely UEFI, you could try changing it in BIOS from UEFI to CSM and try the LM install disk/USB to boot to and see if lsusb results are different

Thanks JeremyB for the suggestion, tried the code but it said latest version already installed and no changes made.
My system is UEFI based and somehow i cant make it work in legecy mode, It is running currently in UEFI mode with secure boot disabled. I tried lsusb with a bootable drive but the result was the same. :(

Can anyone help me with the this. Wifi is working fine after i installed firmware from github, but bluetooth doesn't work and shows no adapter found.

You could try going into BIOS and reset to defaults and see if that makes bluetooth work. With nothing showing up in lsusb results will be an issue
