There really is nothing to configure
Check if it can read data CDs
Did it read music CDs before
Any difference between different CDs
This can be so much...
Are the CDs burned on the same drive?
Burned on another? Closed - open
Commercial disks?

Try cleaning your CDs and if that doesn't work.
put in a CD that has data on it and see what happens.

you also may need to update too.

Let us know!

Well don't "clean" your CDs That might really "clean" them
A CD or DVD is very fragile, you can read about it in several places
This got me thinking - you might need to clean the lens of the drive
There are special cleaning disks for that purpose

you are joking, right :?:

send me a link, i would love to see it!

there could be a small spec of dust on the CD and you wouldn't even see it and that could give you problems.

here's a link for you.

No - I'm only partly joking - playing with words
If you try to clean with a dish brush and some cleaning agent the risk is you loose everything :)
The reflective layer on a CD is just a few microns thick - it's not by chance you must use a special pen if you write on a CD
I think the links underpins this :)
Just glanced at them though
