<SOLVED> Default monitor configuration in amdcccle (or aticonfig)

Post by chellrose »

I'm using Mint 17.3, dual monitors, Radeon R7 240 graphics card. Physical setup has Monitor 2 to the left of Monitor 1. When I boot, the software has 2 to the right of 1. I have to go into AMD Catalyst (amdcccle) and switch them.
I would like a way to enforce the correct setting on boot. I've explored the aticonfig terminal command, which seems like it *should* do what I want, however, using

Code: Select all

aticonfig --set-dispattrib=dfp1,positionX:0
(for example) fails. I have also edited the monitor positions in /etc/X11/xorg.conf after running

Code: Select all

aticonfig --initial
to get AMD sections in that file. This has no visible effect.

Is there a way to make it remember the proper configuration on boot?

First position the monitors correctly in Catalyst Control Center. For Mint Cinnamon or MATE, open Preferences > Display and click the Apply button.

For Xfce, go to Settings > Display and click Apply, but if that button is grayed out, then click Identify Displays first.
