Proplem with Brother HL1212w printing [SOLVED]

I have recently upgraded to the latest Mint xfce. I have installed my HL1212W via 'printers'. It is working on wireless but not printing correctly. Below many characters it is printing small black boxes particularly characters that have a low stroke like p. It seems there is no specific driver for this printer but it uses the recommended one HL1230.
I installed it using the find network printer option and selected the 192.168 etc option. I was using this printer fine with no issues in Mint 17 xfce. All printing seems to be the same, Libre office, pdf's etc. I'm stuck. Can anyone help as this is a major problem for me as I need to print.

We had a lot of problems until we settled on HP printers as HP kit just seems better supported. The company also has one of those large print/fax/scan printers that weigh as much as a small person but we print to that via a Windows server - direct from Mint seemed an insurmountable problem!

You need to switch the driver. I have a Brother printer myself, and I had the exact same problem.
