Ugee M708 digital tablet works well in Mint 18.1

Post by pdc_2 » Wed May 10, 2017 3:51 pm

we recently bought an Ugee M708 digital tablet; to learn a little more about drawing and using such things! We are on Mint 18.1 and on the 4.10 kernel; which seems to perform fine; to my relief, it seems to me to the tablets works "out of the box"; it may be as I learn a little more, things get harder! Still, I thought to report this initial, to us, great result; there seem many of devices around now; at what seems like an affordable price; doubtless the skilful may find wacom better; but in the "learning to walk" field, I hope this does well; I enclose a couple of links if anyone wishes to look http://www.ugee.eu/pi/m708-features/ and a review http://sweetmonia.com/Sweet-Drawing-Blo ... te-review/

Hi:
I have the same tablet, but only works as a mouse, without pen presure or configure buttons...
In sistem-configuration - tablets - appears there's not any connected tablet...
installed digimend but nothing...
in your menu appears this tablet for configure it?

you are far further up the learning curve than we are: we have only plugged it in; however booting to Cinnamon in another install of 18.1, I agree the config doesn't show it; with Clem talking of better support for wacom, it would be great if there was wider support for these tablets; for me, I need to learn about GiMP too; and we may even explore Krita;

....... I sensed with a newer kernel one didn't need the digimend install now ..... but happy to be corrected

hi, i "reinstalled" digimend and update kernel to 4.1.00.2generic.
And now, krita detect pencil preasure, but gimp not, really strange.

And obviosly, linuxmint config menu don't detect it.

But now, can paint well with krita.
