Help with Radeon Xpress 1150

Postby Decemberdoom » Sun Apr 19, 2009 9:45 am

Hello all.

I have a Gateway laptop with an integrated Radeon Xpress 1150 card. Everything seems to work fine, until I run any games, or WINE, while using Compiz. I've tried using the propriety drivers, and I've also tried it without, the same thing happens. Basically, the game (or WINE environment) starts to flash black and then flash what should be on the screen.

If I turn Compiz off, this also stops occurring, but I'm looking for a solution other than dumping Compiz altogether. If anybody knows of an alternative for Compiz that runs well on GNOME, then please mention it, but a solution for my current setup would be preferable. I'm not currently on that computer, so I can't post any outputs from the terminal, but Linux detects everything fine as far as I can tell.

Thanks for your help!

I think you have to live with turning Compiz on and off
It is a well known fact that Compiz can give this kind of problems and generally there is no solution if better graphics drivers don't help
Compiz is nice eyecandy but still (!) some kind of beta
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
