I know that mint 18 xfce has the core of Xubuntu but the issue is that even though I change mac address using macchanger when I connect to the router for internet the wifi goes to the mac address on the chip,I know this because after I disconnect from the router. I check my mac address and its the chip mac address.Dont know if this is a hardware, driver, or software issue but the atheros hardware and driver or something else wont let me spoof the mac address in linux mint.
But the spoofing works great in windows 7.

Re: mac address changing on mint
tried it and it doesnt work it always reverts to the chip mac address which I would assume is a driver issue,Tails linux that I have found does work well to spoof mac address but I hate the gnome3 desktop I mean the gnome3 desktop system is a memory hog at 2.5 Gb ram.I would like mint/ubuntu to act like tails with/without the tor browser.

found the solution downloaded all the deb packages of wicd removed the gnome network manager and it works great.
