Networking on Dell Optiplex 7050

Post by Wheelspin »

I've installed Linux Mint 18 on my new work pc but I have no network support. Windows 10 Device Manager lists it as an "Intel Ethernet Connection (5) I219-LM".

I've looked up my service tag on Dell's site but there's no driver support for Ubuntu.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this working?

inxi -F

Copy/paste your system specs.

I went to 7 different sites to find what network chip you have. None of them listed it specifically. Newegg was especially weird. It just listed it as communications: bluetooth. Everyone else gave "Lan" as the descriptor. Your inxi -F will be needed.

doing a search inside the hardware section here bring up lots of threads with your specific network chip. I used the search term: I219-LM
This would be a great place to start.

Can you post a link? All of the results I get for your search term in the hardware section talk about video or sound issues. Basically the hits come from people posting inxi results.

ok, so that thread deals with a Wifi card which I don't have. I did try installing the 4.8 and 4.10 kernels as suggested but both refused to boot.
