Source Package: hw-detect

The following binary packages are built from this source package:

archdetect
Hardware architecture detector
disk-detect
Detect disk drives
driver-injection-disk-detect
Detect OEM driver injection disks
ethdetect
Detect network hardware and load kernel drivers for it
hw-detect
Detect hardware and load kernel drivers for it

Are these commands that are supposed to be found and installed via Synaptic ?

I see archdetect but I don't see any of the others.

Thanks.

I really don't know any more about it. On the Debian website, it says this:

Warning: This package is intended for the use in building debian-installer images only. Do not install it on a normal Debian system.

And on the Ubuntu site, it says:

Warning: This package is intended for the use in building debian-installer images only. Do not install it on a normal Ubuntu system.

Ubuntu updates says:

This package is just an umbrella for a group of other packages, it has no description.

Apparently it installs these packages:

archdetect
Hardware architecture detector
disk-detect
Detect disk drives
driver-injection-disk-detect
Detect OEM driver injection disks
ethdetect
Detect network hardware and load kernel drivers for it
hw-detect
Detect hardware and load kernel drivers for it

You might google for those packages and see what they do.
