Hi,
I thought I'd try linux for the first time and decided to go with Mint (18.2 32-bit). I've installed it on a a laptop (clean install just so I can play around with it) and it seems to have installed ok. However, I have to use a wifi adapter (no access to the router itself) and it doesn't work. When I plug the adapter in and go to Network Settings it recognises that there is an adapter there but I cannot turn it on. Is there a way to activate it without connecting to the internet by a plugged in cable?

Re: Wifi Adapter not working
Hi,
There's a lot of text and it's on a separate system (I'm typing this on the desktop) - I'll see if I can work something out.

Re: Wifi Adapter not working
You should be using the 64bit Mint, not 32bit. 32bit is being discontinued for many programs.
Mint 18.2 Cinnamon, Quad core AMD A8-3870 with Radeon HD Graphics 6550D, 8GB DDR3, Ralink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI

Re: Wifi Adapter not working
Hard blocked.... Try to find a hardware switch. Either a physical one (small, almost hidden switch, usually on the front) or an Fn key combination.
