Can't adjust brightness after waking from suspend

Postby Payload » Sun Jul 16, 2017 8:35 am

Hello,
I followed this tutorial on https://itsfoss.com/fix-brightness-ubuntu-1310/ and got my screen backlights to work. Now I can adjust the screen brightness, but close the lid of my laptop (suspend) and wake it from suspend, the screen goes completely black. I have to enter my password blindly and hit return to log in. Here goes the weird part:
After I log in, I press the F2 key which corresponds to making the screen brighter. The screen stays black, but then it suddenly turns to the max brightness after about 3 seconds of holding down the F2. After this, when I press F1 (lower brightness), the screen just turns completely black again. So now the brightness is only available in two level. This problem goes away when I restart my laptop.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
