SD slot not working?

Post by brit27 » Thu Jul 20, 2017 7:44 am

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z710 running Mint.
When I put the sd card in its slot it doesn't show up.
Is there a driver or update I'm missing so I can use this?

Thanks :)

In the past this problem has been a user trying to use an SDHC card in an SD reader...the electronic equivalent of putting a DVD into a CD drive...

https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-id ... ive/specs/
Card Reader: Type: 2 in 1 card reader: Supported Flash Memory: MultiMediaCard, SD Memory Card

http://www.integralmemory.com/faq/cards ... d-sd-cards

o A SD card will normally work in a SDHC device (possibly with lower performance). SD cards are in the following capacities 4,8,16,32,64,128,256 512MB and 1GB, 2GB only.

o A SDHC card will not work in a SD device such as a camera or reader. SDHC cards are in the following capacities 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB
Data stored in the volume will only be accessible with the correct password. If you lose this security key, all data will be lost.

Thank you!
I took a peek at the card in my camera and it was an SDHC!
I switched it out with one that said SD took a test picture and popped it into my computer and it worked!

I would have never realized it was just the card type. :)
