Connect Linux Mint with Windows Phone.

Post by caolite » Fri Aug 25, 2017 6:15 am

Hi, no solution found online has helped me connecting my microsoft phone with my laptop running linux mint 18.2.
Bluetooth did work but it has a number of disadvantages: slow, eats up my phone battery, need confirmation for each file, can't browse the phone or laptop library from the other device.
I am maintaining a library of 40 GB music and that means transferring many files weighing many gigabytes rather often.
Anyone knows a working method for connection via either USB cable or wireless network?
(Phone is Lumia 550 with a micro-SD card)

hi, have the Nokia Lumia 520 with Windows Phone 8. we only use it for photos, has great camera, plus was only $30
when i connect with with usb cable, phone shows in file manager and desktop , but i have to right click mount volume, then it mounts like an external device and we copy/move the photos to hard drive.
we're running mint 18.2 xfce and cinnamon 64bit on the 2 home compters.

what version of mint are you running ?
does anything happen when you plug in phone with usb cable ?
does the phone show in file manager ? (right click on it and mount)

My phone runs Windows Phone 10 and lapop is using KDE environment. When plugging in the phone the following popup is prompted from the system tray.

What happens if you choose "Open With File Manager" from that pop-up dialog? Can you browse the phone's memory then?
