[SOLVED] Upgraded from 18.1 to 18.2 and kernel 4.4.10.0-38 and now bluetooth no longer works

Postby scippie75 » Sat Nov 04, 2017 8:29 am

As mentioned in the title: I have been using Mint 18.1 succesfully with working bluetooth for months.
I recently upgraded to 18.2 and the bluetooth no longer works: No Bluetooth adapters found
While booting I get a message about bluetooth ath3k not being found, but I had that when booting 18.1 too.

Can anyone help me with this?

The laptop is a BTO with an integrated wifi/bluetooth combination card. Wifi sometimes fails to start (1 in 10 boots or so) and I need to modprobe it again to make it work or just reboot.

Note: I just think about this: I recently also upgraded the kernel, this is probably more important than the 18.2 upgrade?

Switch back to the old kernel as that bluetooth needs a kernel source patch to work that you must have installed at some point

Thank you, that solved it indeed.
Does this mean that I will never be able to upgrade my kernel to make use of newer features?

You can use new kernels but you will need to patch to get bluetooth working
You could try https://launchpad.net/~hanipouspilot/+a ... .1_all.deb but I don't know if it will work in all kernels
