Need some help connecting my new Pixel 2 to my laptop running mint 17.3. My previous phone a Nexus 6 connected just fine with a usb cable. the new Pixel 2 is not being recognized. The Pixel 2 is running Oreo. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I have also tried connecting to another laptop with Mint 18.2 on it and no luck there either.

Thanks
Jon

Should work okay. There's a popup which you have to allow for the system to use the usb for data transfer, which should appear on the phone. Can be flaky.
Try unplugging/plugging the USB, otherwise check for USB options on the phone.

In my experience, there's nothing you need to do on the Mint end.

I do have developer mode active and USB debugging on and set the USB connection to file transfer. When I plug the phone in Mint does not mount the phone and the phone does not give me the message about connection it just indicates charging. Could this be an Oreo thing? Anyone else had success connecting to a Pixel 2 with Oreo on it?

Thanks
Jon

This is very odd, only the usb 2 port works the usb 3 ports do not. It is good that at least one works.
