Mouse keeps powering off until I click again.

Postby Demenx » Thu Nov 09, 2017 6:48 pm

I tried searching for a an answer I don't know if the problem was too specific or difficult to search.
My mouse keeps powering off when I stop using it, unresponsive even the bottom led is off. Can't move the mouse or click, until I click again (sound odd but the first click doesn't register but from then on I can keep using it), it wouldn't be a problem normally but the time frame for when I stop using the mouse and it shuts down it's no more than 2 sec, so every time I use the keyboard I have to click again the mouse to power it on.

What kind of mouse? USB? PS2? Wireless? Bluetooth? Does it have a battery? Did the behavior suddenly start, or is this a new build?

USB non wireless, pretty standard works great in windows in the same computer, and the problemas has been since installation.

Please run the following Command from Terminal and post back the results.

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz

Do you know the make and model of the mouse and have you tried it in all the available USB ports on the system for test?

Also, are there any system motherboard BIOS options relative to legacy USB support and is it enabled or disabled? If disabled, try enable and test.

That got me thinking, and I did a check. One more item to try. Go to Menu - Preferences - Mouse and Touchpad. Click on the Touchpad button and locate "Disable touchpad while typing" and toggle it to OFF. Even if you don't have a touchpad, try it. You could also try to disable Touchpad for a test.

I'm running both old Mint 17.3 and new 18.2 and that default appears to have changed. The default use to be OFF.
