Microphone not working (internal, bluetooth)

Post by scippie75 »

Specs:
Mint 18.2
Kernel 4.4.0-97-generic (seems to be the only one supporting my bluetooth)

I am trying to get skype/steam voice chat/... to work with my laptop, preferably with my bluetooth headset (Sennheiser PXC 550).
Output works fine, I can listen to music on my internal speakers and my headset.
When I go into the Sound Settings, I see both my internal as my headset microphone listed in the Input tab. But below the selection for the input device, in the Device settings, the controls are grayed out. I can 't change the microphone volume and while grayed out its level is set to 0. The Input Level bar is of course not showing anything. Steam Voice Settings also do not show any input.

I have tried using alsamixer, unmuting the microphone there (bluetooth headset is not listed there), but it doesn't help.
