Running in software rendering mode

Post by Todaug »

I logged in to my Mint machine and got this message on the top right of my screen
Running in software rendering mode
Cinnamon is currently running without video hardware acceleration and, as a result, you may observe much higher than normal CPU usage.
There could be a problem with your drivers or some other issue. For the best experience, it is recommended that you only use this mode for troubleshooting purposes.
I'm using an nvidia 1060 and I tried to reinstall the drivers and also tried to come back using nouveau driver but I keep getting this message. (Right now all nvidia drivers are uninstalled)

If I search on Google about this problem, all I found is problem concerning virtual box running mint on it, but i'm not on a virtual machine.

What can I do next ?

here is the output of inxi -Fxz

I am also receiving this error and my screen is drawing VERY slowly.

New install with a z370 core i7 and I had a GeForce 9500GT card in it but removed it, installed the newest version of Mint 18.2 and at least the i915 failure to load driver message is gone but it is essentially unusable with the screen speed.

I added the i915.alpha_support=1 GRUB parameter and it sill no change... have you solved your problem?
