Is the SD card bad? Have you tried it in another system/device?

Yes, I tried the SD card into a windoze machine and it works.

This is my kernel:

Code: Select all

gt@Aspire-E1-570 ~ $ uname -a
Linux Aspire-E1-570 4.11.0-13-generic #19~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Aug 2 20:06:21 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any clue?

Looks similar to this post at Ubuntu:

https://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index. ... 60618.html

Looking at the register dump, CAPS and CAPS_1 are identical.

Could be a bug, since this was reported at 17.04. Could be a hardware problem with that system, unless you're dual booting Win and it works there.

The 4.11 kernel is EOL and didn't get any patches past late last summer. Might try the recent 4.10 kernel (operates with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and was released with Mint 18.3 Sylvia) or kernel 4.13.

Thank you for your patience, I appreciate. I tried 4.10 as well. I get the same crash. I think is a bug in the driver code. Can you spot the SD csrd reader in this output?

I vote for this one: :)

/0/100/1c/0.1 generic BCM57765/57785 SDXC/MMC Card Reader

I thinking it's one of those new SD bus card readers, unlike the old USB type.

Ok, by googling with the SD card reader manufacturer, Broadcoam in my laptop, I found the solution:

https://gist.github.com/samgooi4189/2e6 ... e5e386d7cb

The only thing:

from the lspci output find the right numbers for the setpci command and replace them as in my case they were not the same.

Enjoy a working SD card reader on Linux Mint!
