How to do this? Coffee Lake CPU

Post by Mattyboy » Mon Dec 04, 2017 12:44 pm

So I'm researching a new built and I've got my eye on the Intel Core i5 8400 - 2.8GHz 6x Core Coffee Lake.

How would you go about doing..

"With Linux 4.13~4.14, you need to set i915.alpha_support=1 to enable this "alpha" quality driver support for Coffee Lake"

as detailed here. ... 8400&num=1

Pass it as a parameter from Grub (like the NOMODESET parm): ... ug/1728313

Unfortunately, that's the workaround until Kernel 4.15 (in development) and probably available with Ubuntu 18.04 / Mint 19.0 next year.
