MacBook battery not responding

Post by jackalope5k » Mon Dec 04, 2017 1:35 pm

Hello all,

New to Mint with very limited experience with Linux in general. I successfully installed Mint 18.2 from DVD onto a blank SSD installed in my old MacBook (13-inch, Early 2009). I used ethernet to download a moderate amount of updates to the machine and it seems to be working nicely, but the battery does not work.

I tried booting with the computer unplugged and pulling the cord when it's already running, but no luck. It will not switch to battery power.

In the bottom right corner of the desktop is an icon showing that Mint recognizes the battery is installed and claims it is "Fully Charged" at 67%. Is there a driver that I need to install that did not get added during the initial set up and first update? I did not purchased this battery until after the initial installation, so I suspect either the driver wasn't installed because the battery was not there, or the battery is DOA even though the OS is able to see it.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
