unable to control backlight keybord

Post by empereur »

HI, I just bought a new Clevo laptop P750TM1-G. I just install linux mint, mate 18,3 64. I have a buildin backlight multicolor keyboard and the building control on the keyboard are not working (to make it more bright or dark, or to close it) (fn and some key on the numpad).
I try to google it, and saw that xset led 3 (or on) and xset -led 3 (or off) should turn them on or off but it is not working with me, no error message, it just doing nothing.

is there is a way to do that? and how to change the color?

Any help would be greatly apreciated, thanks

If any info is missing, just ask (but also tell me how to get the info)

François

I'll bump a bit since I'm still trying to make this work =( I saw a lot of threads trying a lot of thing but they do not work for my computer.

I installed the kernel module as explained here : https://askubuntu.com/questions/184593/ ... vo-laptops it seem to work (no error message, or nothing) but the backlit stay at is really annoying blue... I tried this script : https://pastebin.com/aDWe9s6d but same thing, it work, does not return any error, but no change on the keyboard.

I tried to narrow down my search to something that would work on my computer, but nothing pertinent come back on google (searching with P750TM1-G backlit keyboard linux) and if I wide'ed my search, everything seem to date form 2015 and seem to be out of date for me....

Any help would be appreciated.

(But I would need direction to be able to do that...)

In settings----keyboard is there anything to control the keyboard?

Or https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2208222 does this help?
If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help.

After installing the drive successfully, you can use the following keystrokes:
Fn * = off/on
Fn / = change mode
Fn -+ = brightness
If you install the "clevo-xsm-wmi" utility, you can use "sudo clevo-xsm-wmi" for more configurations.
