No sound after on new laptop with Linux Mint 18.3

Good day.

Can anybody help me with my trouble? How to fix this issue?
I just install Linux Mint 18.3 on new laptop and have no sound.

Have same problem.
Under System Setting > Sound i see "Speakers build in" and "Digital output USB DAC", however if I select USB DAC the sound is always on build in speakers.
I have HP Zbook laptop.

I had problem with Linux Mint 18.3 cinnamon and soved it.

These are what I found:
- Firefox 57/58 use Pulseaudio
- Linux Mint 18.3 cinnamon install Pulseaudio by default
- You can delete pulseaudio, back to alsa (and it works perfectly), but the Firefox 58 will not have any sound (Chrome, Brave dont have any problem with alsa). But I am comfortable with Firefox, so I stay with pulseaudio.
- install PAVU (this is a must)
- I edit the following file: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and add a line: options snd-hda-intel model=ref, then reboot
- Everytime Applet > sound panel > Sound setting > Device > and then push one of the icon will turn off the sound (a bug ???). And you can't undo it anymore, the sound is dead.
- To turn on sound : Pulseaudio Control Volume > configuration > Built-in audio > change to analog stereo ouput or what ever your audio is
- Then push tab Output Devices > change the port to Line Out (not Headphone)
- Your sound is back.

So I just uninstall the sound applet in the panel.

Another variant to backaround the problem is to completely shutdown Windows via cmd:

And sound will work on Linux Mint.

But if use standard Windows reboot or shutdown, no sound will be on Linux.
