bluetooth adapter not finding devices

Post by ranger077 »

Hi all.
I have a problem with a bluetooth adapter, which seems to be recognised by my desktop pc but not being able to detect any device when i try to find some.
I tried many phones and a bluetooth speaker but none worked. i could use a little help :D
here are some command outputs:
$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 006: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
$ rfkill list
2: hci0: Bluetooth
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: no
i am running linux mint 18.
$ uname -r
4.4.0-53-generic
any idea ?

Try bluetoothctl in a terminal and see what you get (also man bluetooth for detail, but there isn't much). In addition install blueman from the software manager and see if that works. Had problems with a bluetooth headset (don't think I had the same problem in mint cinnamon 17.3 now running 18.3) where the 'as supplied' bluetooth manager in 18.3 wouldn't connect/disconnect or refresh and this fixed it for me.

well, i got bluetoothctl installed, and most of commands work properly...but my pc cannot see my phone!
There are a lot of options but if i cannot discover my devices are useless.
I even tried to pair forced just by typing pair and then the mac address, still didn't succeed. It said device not available.
pretty weird, because my phone bluetooth is ok, it works on other handsets and devices. And also bluetoothctl sees my usb adapter perfectly..

Maybe some specific drivers are recommended?
