Problem Intel graphics
After updating to the latest kernel (4.4.0-109) my Intel graphics unit (SkyLake Integrated Graphics (8086:1912) rev. 06) makes trouble. The desktop flickers. Loading an older kernel (3.19.0.-32) solves the problem. I am using Mint 17.3 Cinnamon, 64 bit. The system is actually updated (sudo apt-get update, dist-upgrade). The Intel tool for updating the graphic card does not work when using Mint 17 (resp. ubuntu 14.04). Does anybody has the same problem? Is it a known bug?

On the contrary, Intel has excellent support in the Linux kernel. My Skylake/KabyLake work fine in LM 17.3
However, kernel 4.4.0-109 is a patch for Intel's "meltdown" defect:

I would go back to the previous kernel for now.

Re: Problem Intel graphics
Thank You very much for Your comment. I already suspected the kernel update. The Intel patch not only seems to fix the CPU problem, but also has side effects.
