How to get Samson Go Mic Portable USB Condenser working

Post by Corvus » Thu Jan 11, 2018 10:18 pm

Hi there, this newbie is back here to ask for help regarding the use of this mic, Samson Go Mic Portable USB Condenser on Linux Mint 18.2 MATE.

I just got a new computer, a cheap and used HP Pavilion dv6000. It's not ideal and it's actually horribly slow (I might have to get help for this as well if it has to do with drivers), but it was the only option in my emergency situation.

Anyways, recording audio is my big reason for needing a computer and I can't seem to get the USB mic working. The computer recognizes it, I can see it in the Sounds setting, but there is zero no audio input. I should add that the built-in mic of the laptop does work, but the volume is too low.

I've searched if there is a solution online, but I couldn't find any. The only thing was the possible solution of updating the kernal, which I've had tried in the past only to make the system unusuable. Mine is currently 4.8.0-53, for your information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, the solution turned out to be quite simple. :?

I just had to change the profile Analog Stereo Input in the Sounds settings.
