There is SO MUCH talk about these hardware security issues my head is swimming. I would like to know if my computer is patched or not Intel Xeon E5540 I've done all the update patches that came through.

Re: What does this actually mean ???
Unfortunately, nope. Since the bug was found & disclosed on vendors in 2017-06-01, it should report a newer date than this. However they might address it with a newer microcode update later on...

Appears I'm OK with Meltdown ???
Re: What does this actually mean ???
Yes. No need to have 'your head swimming' however and be extra worried...more patches & mitigations will come soon enough in the kernel etc, so if you simply continue to keep your machine updated regularly same way as always, you're all set...
