HDMI Forces OS to freeze

Post by Lothric » Mon Jan 22, 2018 9:34 pm

Hey all. I tried googling my issue but found no results for the past few days.

My issue is whenever I connect an hdmi cord from my laptop to an external monitor, my OS immediately freezes. I cannot move the mouse or use any keys. I can't even adjust my screen brightness. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OS:
Linux MyPC 4.4.0-109-generic #132-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jan 9 19:52:39 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

GPU:
NVIDIA-SMI 384.111 Driver Version: 384.111
(Laptop also has intel integrated graphics)

If any more information is needed I will definitely be happy to add to this. Thanks again!

Are there any BIOS settings on the laptop to select which GPU is used instead of Optimus?
