Unable to read CD/DVD in Linux Cinammon

Hi,

I installed a few months back Linux Cinnamon in order to get a taste for Linux and now I am having issues reading CDs and DVDs. Whenever I insert a CD or a DVD the reader starts spinning and sometimes it pops up a menu "Blank CD: do you want to burn it" or it just stops and does nothing. I cannot see any folder with the CD symbol either.

Can you please help me?

My computer is Toshiba Satellite L755 and Windows is installed in one partition and in the other I have Linux

Did the DVD drive read disks previously in Linux?
Does the DVD drive read disks in Windows?
Had the same problem with a friend's Satellite recently. The DVD drive would not work in Linux or Windows. Fix was to replace the DVD drive.

Sorry for the late reply. The DVD drive was working in Windows last time I tried it... but now it doesn't work... so it is probably broken beyond repair .
