AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint touchpad treated as mouse

Post by rawbert »

Hi!

I'm having issues with the 'AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint' (HP zBook Studio G4). It is working but is treated as a mouse device, effectively resulting in all the settings I make in 'Mouse and Touchpad' > 'Touchpad' being ignored. E.g. I can disable 'Tap to click' but with no effect. I can even disable 'Enable touchpad' and it will still work.

These are the relevant lines from the Xorg log file:

Code: Select all

This is the output of 'xinput':

Any hints on how to get this thing working as an actual touchpad would be much appreciated! :)

Hello - I also have a new HP ZBook Studio G4 running Mint 18.3 Cinnamon with latest updates and kernel.
Running in UEFI and hybrid graphics mode.
Same issue with touchpad being treated as mouse and this causes issues with lack of palm rejection on the larger touchpad.
Everything else so far works very well, but I haven't test battery life yet, and fan seems to run about 50% of time when browsing static internet pages.
Would love any suggestions on how to force appropriate drivers for this touchpad.
