MacBook Pro: driver for camera FaceTime HD

Post by Ambrosini »

Good morning,
I would like to install the Linux Mint 18.3 "Sylvia" - Cinnamon (64-bit) on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13 inches, late 2013).
On my the Mac I have a limited HD SSD so I would like to dedicate all the space only for Linux (single partition).
With the USB flash drive "Live", I seem to be able to run all, WIFI network as well.

The only problem is that the camera FaceTime HD is not recognized and on the web I found a few not very clear indications, I tried from the Live but I could not succeed in.

Would there be someone who could tell me step by step how to get the firmware of the FaceTime HD Camera from OSX and then, after formatting all the HD (SSD) for Linux, how to load the FaceTime HD driver and how to use it for ?

Thank you,

Greetings.

Solved:

The Apple Facetime HD driver compatible can be found here: https://github.com/patjak/bcwc_pcie.git

The script for the camera setup can be found here: https://gist.github.com/Stono/990ea9f0b ... 0382d421bf

Dear members,

Kindly I would like to ask what would be needed to make a driver package available in a repository. Maybe that people with 720p HD camera in their laptop find it easier to install a driver using Synaptic Package Manager, for example. I posted this question also on Github: https://github.com/patjak/bcwc_pcie/issues/218
