SnapDragon 835 devices, will LM work?

Post by [Rich] » Sat Mar 03, 2018 12:46 pm

https://www.asus.com/us/2-in-1-PCs/ASUS-NovaGo-TP370QL/

I've never used anything other than an intel or amd cpu before but I have been seriously considering this laptop....

I don't want windows on it... I would much prefer to load up Linux Mint 19.x cinnamon.

however the issue is the SnapDragon 835 proc... I don't want to be stuck with a computer i can't get mint on so i was hoping there was some info or developer experiences that you could share to help me decide to buy or not :?:

The Snapdragon is an ARM processor. Mint (currently) is only supported on PC desktop x86 architecture. I don't think Ubuntu supports ARM, other than server, so probably a NO for now.
Linux Mint 19 x64 Cinnamon 4.15.0-42-generic
Gigabyte GA-AB350M-D3H (F20) / Ryzen 5 1600 / Micron Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400 2x8GB / Sapphire Radeon HD6450
NVMe-SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 250GB / SATA-SSD: Samsung 850 250GB + Toshiba OCZ VX500 512GB
