ASMedia ASM1062 ?

Post by coffee412 »

Does anyone know or use a Sata controller card with this chipset that actually works?

Code: Select all

24:00.0 SATA controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1062 Serial ATA Controller (rev 02) (prog-if 01 [AHCI 1.0])
Subsystem: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1062 Serial ATA Controller
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 44
	I/O ports at c050 [size=8]
	I/O ports at c040 [size=4]
	I/O ports at c030 [size=8]
	I/O ports at c020 [size=4]
	I/O ports at c000 [size=32]
	Memory at fe210000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512]
Expansion ROM at fe200000 [disabled] [size=64K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: ahci
	Kernel modules: ahci
Just purchased this card from amazon to expand an external eSATA for a drive dock. What happens is that as soon as I turn on a drive the system will reset the drive several times after it assigns a block device to it (/dev/sdXx) and then my system will shutdown.

Motherboard is a ASUS prime x370 pro:

Before I go for a bios up date on the MB I thought I would ask and see if anyone is using something with this chipset and can confirm its working. Im not finding much on the web about it.

Thanks

According to that, yes. Maybe the article will give you some clues.

Hi Catweasle :)

Good deal. I just wanted to make sure I was not going down a lost road here on unsupported hardware. I will look at upgrading my bios this weekend to get this card to work. Since my MB is so new I bet the bios upgrade will probably work on this.

Thanks!
