Printer Epson XP-241 does not print in draft mode. I installed the official epson driver and it did not work. Anyone have any suggestions?

Where are you seeing/setting Draft quality?

I have the Epson WF-2760, which uses the same ESC/P-R Driver. When I print using "System dialog", I have a Page Setup and plain papers-Standard/High to adjust quality of print.

I do have Draft for my HP Laserjets.

If your Epson is the default printer, try the following command to dump the options available from CUPS.

Code: Select all

lpoptions -l

In the printer properties I do not have the option to select the print quality. Just the paper type and medium size.

Some time ago a same problem with an HP printer and I solved with the installation of another driver.

With this printer Epson can not find another driver to try to solve the problem.

In Printer Properties, in the Printer Options section, set Grayscale to ON for a test. That should produce a black/gray-only print. You can also select it from the print menu in the 'System dialog" on the Advanced tab.

I tested the grayscale. But it only changes the color of the print. I need to change the print quality to draft. I do not have this option in the printer properties dialog box. When this problem occurred with my old HP printer I solved it with a driver from another version. Now with this Epson XP-241 printer I can not find another driver to test.

just to confirm what driver is being used:

can you go to your PRINTERS folder? (usually inside the ADMINISTRATION folder); and right-click on the only?? icon for the XP-241; right-click; select PROPERTIES at the top line; look in MAKE & MODEL; about four down; drag the window to the right so you can see the text; can you copy what is there please? and paste it here? (It should tell us what driver is being used).

If I were looking for a driver for the XP-241 from Epson, I would start here http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/searc ... ch/?OSC=LX and end up here http://download.ebz.epson.net/dsc/du/02 ... e43b62db49 with the driver that came out there weeks ago: 2nd April 2018 and for 64bit Mint it would be epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.6.20-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb

for another driver, TurboPrint have long specialised in high-quality drivers http://www.turboprint.info/printer_Epso ... eries.html you can see they offer very high quality prints; go on; treat yourself; you know you deserve it

by the way, there is a Printers and Scanners folder; if we ask the moderators to move this thread into there? More folks are likely to see it there

Yes, I am using exactly the driver "epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.6.20-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb".

I also tested the drivers available in PROPERTIES in printer management.

The TurboPrint driver may even work but you would have to pay. I just bought the new printer and it would not be very fair.

I found the driver for XP 200 series at http://openprinting.org/printer/Epson/E ... 200_Series. This driver has the option of draft mode but did not print on XP-241.
