Screen Brightness Maxed Out and No Adjust on Acer Laptop

Post by Ronnybaby »

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-51-5082 15.6" IPS Intel Core i5 7th Gen 7300HQ (2.50 GHz) NVI
GeForce GTX 1050

Man... this has been a challenge getting Mint to work on this laptop!

I finally got it to install and its been problem after problem. I have solved all of them...
except now, I cannot figure out why the brightness function stopped working.

There is a key combonation on this laptop -Depress and hold the FN key, then tap left
arrow to lower brightness or right arrow to increase brightness. It is no longer working
and my brightness is maxed out! I looked elsewhere to try and adjust the brightness,
though I found nothing.

What could be the issue with the keyboard adjustment? Any ideas as to what I can do
to get the key combo working again?

That looks like very new hardware, and that's often difficult to get going properly in Linux. The driver/hardware support takes longer.

You should post more detailed info every time you're asking support questions ... copy/paste this to the terminal and copy/.paste the text output here:
