Sound suddenly gone on Linux mint 18.3

Post by Skomal » Fri May 25, 2018 6:54 am

Hi I was using blue tooth speakers when I asked the laptop to restart. Sound icon and sound disappeared on restart. Removed blue tooth software and rebooted- nothing. Loaded a linux mint 18.3 cd os and sound was there and working normally. Rebooted again back into loaded OS -no sound. Do i have to do a complete re -install? I am not an expert but if I have to fix by removing and reinstalling softare for sound , does anyone have time to give me simple instructions to do this?
Some info.......

I know it's not what you want to hear but bluetooth is a little spotty in my experience. I would use a cord if possible. On the plus side the sound quality is better.

You could try to use a previous kernel.
