Swap is empty, can't get out of the sleeping mode

Post by aleksandra531 »

Hello!
The issue is that laptop (hp) can't be turn in sleeping mode, the system is Linux Mint KDE 18.3. When I open the lid, I see a black screen with blinking dash. If I immediately push the hot key, tty1 opens, but doesn't react on taping (so I believe it isn't related to videocard (Nvidia)). So the only solution is turn it off with a power button.

I really don't know, but suppose the reason is a problem with swap. Gparted sees it (8 Gb), swapon also, but it always stays empty (not sure if it mustn't before the sleeping mode).
Here are screenshots: fdisk, swapon https://i.stack.imgur.com/1VyWA.png

disk partitions (gparted) https://i.stack.imgur.com/J3Bop.png

How can I fix it?

Do you have an entry in fstab for it?

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab

yeah, that looks OK. I did notice you may have a 4k Hybrid drive, since it reports sectors of 512 logical but 4096 actual-physical. All the partitions look to have enough space. You using newer GParted than I. I see a lock on partitions showing in it. Is this an encrypted system?

I see nothing wrong with the system. When you get the user name and login prompt, have you entered your password?

Also, when that happens, hold the CTRL and ALT keys and start with F6 and hit the next couple function keys, see if you arrive at a graphical display.
