I have a problem with RAM -.-

Postby mindstriker » Sat Jun 06, 2009 4:59 am

Hi all!
I have installed Linux Mint 7, the new version... and works perfectly... but i have bought a new tg RAM... Kingston PC6200 CL6, in the shop, the assistant assured that it would work equally well, even that my RAM series was PC 4200. The problem is that MINT will bloqued, and I have to restart, but still and this way it continues being blocked always. It is a fault of the RAM, I have changed grooves but still and this way it is blocked .. some solution?

Thank you :)

(sorry for my english, i'm spanish ;D
I know, i have a forum with spanish people.. but in Spain, Linux Mint is not very popular.. and we don't have help great)

If I were you, I would open my case and write down the model number of the motherboard. Then I would go to the Manufacturer's Website, find the Support link, find the Motherboard model, and view or download the User Manual. Some even have links to the compatibility web page.

I know from personal experience, that ASUS, Intel, Gigabite, support sites have ALL the info on what RAM is compatible for their models.

IMHO - Don't take an assistants word for Gospel ! pc4200 --> pc6400 ???

regards, Richard
