What app may I use to determine the type of CPU is in my laptop? It is a lenovo Intel Core i5.

Core i5 is the CPU type. It's a 64 bit CPU, referred to interchangeably by the terms x86_64 and AMD64.

The terminal command: inxi -Cx will give you a general overview of your cpu, it's cores, and current speeds. :)

Or you could use the hardinfo GUI (System Profiler & Benchmark in the menu once installed).
