Touchpad not working on Teclast F7 laptop

Post by lyubo »

Hello,

I've been a Mint user for quite some years and it's the first time I feel the need to post an issue in the forum. I can't seem to get this one done.

The touchpad of my Teclast F7 laptop is completely not functioning under Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon. The hardware architecture is Intel's Apollo Lake. The device is originally using Microsoft's precision touchpad drivers (the laptop came with Windows 10 preinstalled). As I looked on the internet there appears to be a fix to that problem - modifying and installing custom kernel, but everything I've found is for Ubuntu. I thought it might work the same for LM but it doesn't seem to, at least not for me. I keep running into errors and not completing anything.

Here are the posts I've found:
http://strangequark.tk/index.php/blog/2 ... astf7linux
https://github.com/pokulan/Ubuntu-Kerne ... Teclast-F7
https://github.com/sridwan/Ubuntu-Kernel-for-Teclast-F7

I guess my primary question is Am I doing it fundamentally wrong or the instructions for Ubuntu are just not working on LM? I would hate to have to go with Ubuntu in order to have my touchpad working but I absolutely do need a working touchpad, so I need help here.

Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone!

I've got the same problem with my touchpad, I've followed the instructions which I found around the Internet (e.g.: http://strangequark.tk/index.php/blog/2 ... astf7linux)... But no results at all... I really tried to follow all instructions, but nothing happened - the touchpad is still not working at all.

Please HELP!!! =)

My Lenovo touchpad freezes at random times. A temporary fix to restart the touchpad is to do do ctrl/alt/del with the keyboard. This brings up a dialog with options - the option on the left is "suspend". Navigate to this option using the left arrow key and hit enter. This will suspend the computer. Then press the power button to unsuspend. For me, this causes the touchpad to work again. Maybe it will work for you also
