laptop getting warm when playing games

Postby tempospeicialisten » Sun Jun 14, 2009 2:46 pm

Hi all

I'm new to Linux and Mint. I have a problem with my laptop, because it is getting extremely warm when im playing Hedgewars, torcs or other games.

The fan starts immediately when i start the games, and the laptop gets hot within a few minutes.

I dont have the problem when i play games in windows vista on the same computer (my laptop dualboots with vista and mint.

Have you any ideas what could be wrong, and what i can do to solve the problem.

The graphic card is a nvidia gforce 8400, and my laptop is a fujitsu siemens pa 2548.

I dont know if you need any other information.

I have a hunch but you have to tell us more facts.
The minimum is exactly which Mint you have - which version and which edition (main or any of the CEs)
We also need to know a bit about all your hardware.
Run " lspci " in a terminal and post here (to avoid misunderstanding - the first character is a minor L and you copy by marking with the mouse and then right click)
Some wifi and possibly built in sound can be connected to USB even if they are internal - if you suspect you have one of these run " lsusb " in a terminal.
Also tell us if this is using mint4win or not, quite important
This is a standard answer so it may not be fully applicable to your situation
