SOLVED! : Tuner card stopped working and can't install me-tv

Post by joseccz »

I have the Pinnacle 801e tv HDTV tuner. It was working wonderfully until Linux Mint 18.* but now that I installed Mint 19 I can not get it to work. Every time I tried to install me-tv I get an error

Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package me-tv
username@nuc0A:~$

I also tried to add its ppa:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:me-tv-development/ppa
HTTP Error 404: Not Found
Cannot add PPA: ''This PPA does not support bionic''

I deeply enjoy using me-tv and able to see TV though my computer. Is there a solution for this problem?

Wait or go back to Mint 18.3.
There is no current release of this source package in The Bionic Beaver. You can still report bugs, make translations, and so on, but they might not be used until the package is published.

Isn't there a way to use non bionic repositories? This should be a decision left to the user at the responsibility of the user.

Just grab the Deb file from the Xenial repo and see if it will install. Link is for 64bit architecture.

https://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/amd64/me-tv/download

Edit to add - it will install on Mint 19...

No worries - it will be helpful for other users/reader if you edit your first post to mark the topic [Solved] and maybe edit the title to Can't install ME-TV in Mint 19.

For Mint 20.1 I needed to install first:

http://mirrors.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/u ... _amd64.deb
also if using gnome install pavucontrol

sudo apt-get install pavucontrol
Locked
