Trackpad not recognized driving me insane

Post by Khaver89 » Mon Oct 08, 2018 3:02 pm

Hi guys, i hope here i can FINALLY find a solution or find a definitive answer.

Bought a LENOVO IDEAPAD 330S-15ARR
SPECS:
Ryzen3 2200u
Vega 3
256 SSD
8 Gb ram

i'm new to linux (i really want to use this OS) but able with pc's...

I tried to install Linux mint Cinnamon 64bit,
Flashed ISO with rufus, tried to boot (EFI) , black screen. it only boots with "noapic" line. (TRACKPAD NOT WORKING IN LIVE)
after boot with noapic i created 3 partition on unallocated space 1 for SWAP 1 For ROOT 1 for HOME then installed. Rebooted and booting fine with "noapic"
BUT CANT GET MY TRACKPAD TO WORK...

From here i need help... tell me what you need.

the first thing you will be asked is to inxi -Fzxd in Terminal,
drag mouse over all of it, Right Click / Copy

and paste the enter results inside the code icon above </>

this will allow the gurus to figure your problem out.

Ummmm,

in that first test, you used a small f
that is incorrect, it must be a capital F

what you posted is reference to the CPU, what is needed is the Full System info

please use the proper term, just click Select and copy this into Terminal

Code: Select all

inxi -Fzxd
then go back and edit out the cpu related info, and paste instead the proper results.

Probably an Elan Touchpad

I would suggest trying the libinput driver. It's much newer than evdev and synaptics and fixed some issues with the Elan touchpad. It also supports most of the hardware of other drivers supported, including some graphics tablets. Here is how to do it in the Synaptic Package Manager and search for the following

xserver-xorg-input-libinput then Install it

xserver-xorg-input-evdev uninstall it

xserver-xorg-input-synaptics uninstall it

now reboot and see if things work better.
