widescreen monitor install

Post by caspiancmonster »

Hi everyone I am going a bit crazy trying to figure out how to get my computer to use my new monitor (an LG 2560 x 1080) I have seen a number of posts on this but can't quite get a clear understanding of the procedure. Many thinks, I really don't want to have to use this monitor only with Windows

Never mind, I seemed to have figured it out. I think it was upgrading/updating Mint but as I changed too many things at once I will never know.

I'm running 18.3 cinnamon on my T430 and all I did was plug in my LG ultra-wide monitor (with a displayport to HDMI adaptor cable). It worked 'out of the box'.

Did you ever figure out what caused it to work? I'm having problems, 2560x1080 automatically detected in LM18.3 but when I try LM19 it won't go higher than 1920x1080. Bit of a showstopper in the move from 18.3 to 19.
